Zeptoblog is an electrical engineering blog about circuits, systems, signal processing and other related technical bits (and bytes).

About me

I am Çağrı Gürleyük, a electrical engineer specialized in microelectronics. I currently work at [REDACTED]. I absolutely do not mind how my name is pronounced, but I am glad you gave it a try.

About Zeptoblog

I started this blog in late 2023. I had been thinking about publishing something along the same lines for a long time. However, I never really got to finish a post and never put anything online until then.

On that fateful day, I was browsing Wikipedia, specifically metric prefixes, and saw that in 2022 the 27th General Conference on Weights and Measures extended the range of SI prefixes. I was sure I was too late to the party to grab a cool name like Quectoblog, so you can imagine my surprise when I saw that Zeptoblog was available.

I always found writing technical documents difficult. I have had to write a few research papers and a couple of theses during my career, and without exception I found the experience excruiating. However, even though I did not particularly enjoy the work, the more I did it, the more I felt like I was getting better at it. As I got close to finishing my Ph.D. thesis I thought it would be a good idea to start writing regularly. I did not want to get rusty.

Like many others, I enjoy doing the work more entertaining than documenting it. Unfortunately, this generally culminates in an unorganized mess of notes, code and schematics that turn out to be impossible to decipher after some time. I’m hoping that with a blog, I can keep some documentation of the technical exploration I do. The hope is that, looking back, I will be able to communicate to myself what I was thinking about.

Also, I am hoping to get some feedback on the material I put up. The content that’s going to be in this blog are not research papers and they will never be peer reviewed. I am sure there will be errors and I think it would be amazing if through this I could catch a few and learn something new.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the content!
